ABOUT THE SHOW
Virus: noun, from Latin, literally ‘slimy liquid, poison.'
A self-replicating strand of genetic material, too small to be seen under a light microscope, and can reproduce only within the living cells of a host. Are viruses alive? Where did they come from? And can we coexist?
This alien quasi-life form has shaped the history of humanity and continues to plague us today, as witnessed by the spread of the Zika virus. A three-part series, VIRUS will focus on the fascinating science and compelling stories around viruses as diverse as influenza, smallpox and, Ebola– combining verité documentary storytelling with historical footage and animation.
