Coming to Discovery History this Sunday (October 28th) at 10pm is History’s Secrets- The Real George Washington.
As Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are battling for votes in the upcoming presidential election we cast our eyes back to the very first American president George Washington.
George Washington is an American icon and one of the nation’s greatest heroes. A founding father, the commander of the Continental Army and writer of the constitution he is celebrated and revered by the American people. But was he really the man history has portrayed him to be? Were his values all so admirable? And was he actually the military hero he has been portrayed as? Evidence proves that he lost more battles than he won and was only an average tactician on the battlefield.
This special documentary argues these claims and more and examines newly found evidence to argue that many aspects of George Washington’s life previously taken as fact are actually fiction. It also asks if as George Washington became a historical icon was the real person lost along the way.
