For two million years glaciers melting into the Bering Sea have deposited sediments rich with gold into its waters, and now each summer when the Nome ice pack melts, the town booms with gold fever and gets ready to risk it all and dive down for their fortune.

Local miners dive and dredge to scour the bottom of the sea using custom built, barely sea-worthy rigs in a race to haul in as much gold as is possible before the water conditions become too frigid for them to dive. With a race against the changing sea conditions they have to battle the extreme climate, life threatening hazards and each other in their relentless hunt for gold.

Gold Divers opens up a world where success in the water can give the dredgers the hope to continue and maybe make them rich but where failure can lead to jail time, injury and even death.
