In Born Survivor Bear Grylls has circled the globe seeking ever more inhospitable places in which to use his extraordinary survival skills – teaching us all these techniques along the way.

But perhaps the best way to describe exactly what Born Survivor is all about is to recount some of the things that Bear has done – all in the name of survival of course…

It started back in 2006 in the Rocky Mountains and from there he:

...drank his own urine to keep hydrated in the Moab desert...
...ate raw salmon in the Alaskan mountains...
...squeezed water from elephant dung for a drink in Kenya...
...made snow shoes from branches in the French Alps...
...rode the rapids in Ecuador...
...disembowelled a camel in the Sahara for shelter...
...avoided trench foot in Sumatra...
...drank yak blood for sustenance in Siberia...
...was stung by a bee in the Baja desert (and an allergic reaction made his face swell up)...
...used a sheep’s carcass as a ‘sheeping’ bag in Ireland...
...showed how to survive a hurricane in the Dominican Republic...
...wrestled a pig in Alabama...
...rehydrated himself by giving himself an enema on the open sea off the Panamanian coast...
...rappelled from a helicopter with film funnyman Will Ferrell in Sweden...
...investigated Aboriginal survival techniques in Australia’s Northern Territory...
...and made a wetsuit from seal skin in Scotland.

Phew! And Bear won’t be stopping there – he continues his quest for methods of surviving the most dangerous places on Earth. And you can catch him exclusively on the Discovery Channel.
