Dr Saleyha Ahsan, Emergency department medical doctor and ex-British Army, went down to the Wellcome Collection's 'Medicine Man' Exhibition - investigating medical equipment from the past to see how it compared with the modern tools she uses in her A&E today.
A little more about Saleyha:
A former British Army captain, Saleyha has continued to work in conflict zones.
In 2003 she returned to Bosnia, where she had previously served as part of the peacekeeping force, SFOR (1997). This time she was armed with a camera, filming for a promotional charity film supporting conflict recovery, HMD International.
It was whilst in Bosnia, working within a field hospital witnessing severe trauma from mines that Saleyha decided to study medicine. She left the Army in 2000 after 4 years service to start a medical degree in Dundee.
