LONDON SURF FILM FESTIVAL
Surfing in the arctic with North of the Sun...
The second film of the London Surf Film Festival we’re having a look at is the work of Norwegian pair Inge Wegge and Jørn Ranum and their film North of the sun.
As described by the directors, “it all started as a crazy idea”.
The film follows Inge and Jørn‘s cold and dark nine month stay on a remote island in the arctic circle off the coast of Northern-Norway.
The island isn't exactly a premiere surfing holiday destination especially not during the perishing winter months but that's exactly the point. Take a look at the trailer below:
They built a cabin out of driftwood and debris that was washed ashore and had to forage for food.
But despite the hardship of the conditions their spirits were kept warm by their stoke, humour and two things they couldn’t have ever left at home – their surfboards.
The film is screened at SATURDAY 13TH OCTOBER, 19.00
