The next film of the London Surf Film Festival we wanted to highlight is the award winning ode to the Chilean ocean - El Mar, Mi Alma directed by Stephen Jones.

The film was shot on 16mm by cinematographer Dave Homcy and combines beautiful cinematic surfing sequences, coastal landscapes and commentary that features an authentic soundtrack and the poetry of Pablo Neruda.

Watch the trailer below:

Featuring the surfing talents of Dave Rastovitch, Ramon Navarro, Joel Parkinson and Chris Del Moro the film is a visual tone poem that paints a picture of Chile’s beauty and the mystical place the sea holds within the culture of the Chilean people.

The film has already been awarded:

Winner: Best Cinematography; Yallingup Surf Film Festival, 2012.
Winner: Best Environmental Film; San Sebastian Surfilm Festibal, 2012.
Winner: Best Film; Nord Nordwest Surf Skate Film Fest Hamburg, 2012.
