ABOUT THE SHOW
Railroad Alaska follows an elite crew who tirelessly work to keep the train rolling 365 days a year in order to deliver life-sustaining supplies to Americans living off the grid and miles away from civilisation.
With dedication, tenacity and grit, these Alaskans have truly mastered the splendour of living life on the track. While contending with unbearable weather conditions and dangerous wild animals, flagging down the passenger train is no easy task - but when
it is the only option for gathering food and fuel, these Alaskans are brave and willing.
The new season brings new challenges; off grid, Jim and Nancy James reluctantly consider selling a cabin to aspiring homesteaders, while fellow off-gridder Jennifer Hawks takes to the air to track down a missing fellow settler.
On the railway, train crew Bill, George and Davy struggle against a severe snowstorm to deliver one of the winter’s heaviest loads - 11,000 tons of oil pipes designed for the frozen north. Malfunctioning equipment threatens to delay their journey, and shut down the track. While the crew battles to clear the line of snow, mechanics RC and Steve race to fix a broken detector.
